Edelman is internationally known as a pioneer in the realm of social media. The varied and real-world-tested expertise of Edelman — combined with passionate and forward-thinking educators — provides the ideal mix of energy, ideas and know-how to make Edelman Digital 101 a valuable experience for all participants.

Edelman Facilitators:

Erin Caldwell, Account Supervisor, Edelman

Erin Caldwell is an Account Supervisor with Edelman’s Digital Public Affairs group in the Washington, DC office. She works closely with clients to build relationships with online influencers, working to enrich those relationships through constant interaction, conference calls and face-to-face opportunities, such as tours and events.  Erin was a recipient of the 2007 Charles E. Fremes Q Hero Award, which is annually given to five individuals across Edelman’s global network “who through their professional and personal conduct set the standard for quality at the firm.” Erin also was the driving force behind the Edelman Digital 101 program, as she coordinated the very first event at The University of Georgia in March 2008.  Previously, she worked with New Communications, LLC, and the Society of New Communications Research, both based in Palo Alto, Calif., and helped produce the New Communications Forum in March of 2006.  Erin can be reached at erin.caldwell@edelman.com.

Kaitlyn Conboy, Account Executive, Edelman

Kaitlyn Conboy is an Account Executive on the Digital Public Affairs team in Edelman’s Washington, DC office. Kaitlyn primarily works on monitoring online conversation trends regarding the energy industry. She is also active in evaluating engagement opportunities for clients, and specifically researching the use of social networks as a platform to engage with stakeholders. Kaitlyn has been at Edelman for over two years, and prior to that interned at Fox News Channel in Washington, DC and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Rochester, NY. Anna Heatherly, Account Executive, Edelman

Anna Heatherly is an Account Executive on Edelman’s Digital Public Affairs team.  Her primary area of expertise is conceptualizing and executing integrated digital marketing programs to drive action online.  She has experience managing many digital initiatives including online media planning and buying, Web site development, user-generated contests, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and online video executions. Anna also has extensive experience with digital analytics, including Web site activity and conversion goals.  Her experience in digital marketing through planning, buying and analytics has made Anna an expert at optimizing and improving the success of online campaigns.  Anna works with the DC office’s largest client to coordinate online advertising, manage podcast and video campaigns, implement paid search and track the performance of all online initiatives. Previously, Anna worked as a digital strategist at Empower Media Marketing in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University. Jenna Kozel, Senior Account Executive, Edelman

Jenna Kozel joined the Digital Public Affairs team in Washington, DC in 2007. She writes content appropriate for the Internet and regularly monitors and analyzes online communities and blogs for a number of healthcare clients, and recently developed a social media training course for a major client. Prior to joining Edelman, Jenna spent six months building an online marketing and communications team at Ashoka, an international non-profit. Jenna helped manage Ashoka’s international Web site launch and subsequent German Web launch, and instituted a targeted email strategy that raised $25,000 over five months. Jenna also wrote and edited content appropriate for the Internet including informational and fundraising emails, strategic partner outreach and fellow outreach. Dave Levy, Account Executive, Edelman

Dave Levy is an Account Executive on Edelman’s Digital Public Affairs team in Washington, DC. Dave came to Edelman in 2007 after he received a master’s degree in public relations at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He has an extensive background in digital media research and assisted, designed and wrote studies on the effects of interactive media as an undergraduate at Boston College in 2006. Dave has also written extensively on how mobile communication can be used as a vehicle for grassroots and public affairs advocacy, as well as the impact of real-time mobile communication on mainstream media during major events or disasters. Monte Lutz, Senior Vice President, Edelman

Monte Lutz is a Senior Vice President in Edelman’s Digital Public Affairs practice, where he integrates social media and word of mouth marketing into traditional outreach and public affairs initiatives. He joined Edelman in January 2007. Monte is a social media pioneer who created his first political blogging community in 1998 – Voter’s Block. He has been developing and implementing targeted marketing and PR campaigns for more than 12 years. Prior to joining Edelman, he was manager of the strategic communications practice at DTI Associates, where he developed traditional, web and word of mouth marketing campaigns. Kate Marshall, Account Supervisor, Edelman

Kate Marshall is an Account Supervisor on Edelman’s Digital Public Affairs team. She joined Edelman in June 2006 and develops digital communication strategies for a number of sustainability-focused clients, providing counsel on blogger engagement, the use of Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms, and more. In addition to her client work, Kate helped develop the curriculum for the first Edelman Digital 101 at The University of Georgia in March 2008, and helps manage the digital communication training efforts throughout Edelman’s Washington, DC office. Prior to joining Edelman, she worked as a writer and editor at an e-learning firm in Alexandria, Va. and a public affairs intern at the Voice of America in Washington, DC. Kate will always have a love for purple and gold, as she graduated from James Madison University in 2004 with a B.A. in Media Arts and Design; she also recently received her master’s in communication from The Johns Hopkins University.  Kate can be reached at kate.marshall@edelman.com.

Patrick Stinnett, Assistant Account Executive, Edelman

Patrick Stinnett, junior Web specialist for the digital public affairs team, develops, implements and executes online strategies and tactics for a variety clients ranging from energy to health care and non-profit organizations. Patrick works with the director of technology and the rest of the digital public affairs team to coordinate all aspects of Web strategy from technical development to ongoing Web site management. Patrick graduated from James Madison University with a degree in media arts and design, with a concentration in interactive media. During his time at school, Patrick worked as a Media Support Specialist for the Center for Instructional Technology where he managed the Center for Faculty Innovation Web site. Dan Webber, Account Supervisor, Edelman

Dan Webber joined Edelman in the summer of 2004. As an account supervisor on the Digital Public Affairs team, he provides companies and organizations with strategic counsel specific to online reputation matters and integrating social media into traditional public relations and public affairs programs. Prior to joining the Digital Public Affairs team in D.C., Dan worked on Edelman Atlanta’s Corporate Communications and B2B team driving research, writing, media relations and influencer relationship development for several corporate clients. He counseled both private and publicly traded companies on thought leadership platforms, influencer organization choices, targeted positioning of C-level executives and the development of strategic media relationships for several diverse clients. Corey A. Hickerson, James Madison University

Corey A. Hickerson, Ph.D., joined the School of Communication Studies faculty at James Madison University in 2005.  He is an assistant professor and teaches in the public relations area.  His research interests involve the use of technology in public relations and education.Recently, he presented three papers about the Internet’s potential in public relations at conferences sponsored by the National Communication Association, Institute for Public Relations and the Southern States Communication Association.  His most recent publication is about faculty/student instant messaging in the Jan. 2009 volume of the International Journal of E-learning. Frank B. Kalupa, James Madison University

Dr. Frank Kalupa’s communication career is a diverse blend of university teaching, research, and administration; corporate and government consulting; aerospace public relations; and journalism.  He received a Ph.D. in communication and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. During 12 years in corporate public relations and journalism, he was director of communication for an aerospace research and development center in California and a reporter and an editor with newspapers in California and Wisconsin. He is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, Public Relations Society of America, Arab-United States Association of Communication Educators, International Public Relations Association, and European Public Relations Education and Research Association. William D. Kimsey, James Madison University

William D. Kimsey, Ph.D., is the Interim Director of the School of Communication Studies at James Madison University. He has published articles on communication, conflict and mediation in Communication Monographs, Mediation Quarterly, Education, Journal of the International Listening Association, Conflict Resolution Quarterly, and more. He is the author of CONFLICTALK, an instrument for measuring youth and adolescent conflict styles and he co-authored the textbook Mediator Communication Competencies 5/e.
